Ron Paul Scales Back, Shifts Focus to Congressional Race
Ron Paul says he’s still in the presidential race but is moving to scale back his staff and shift focus to his own re-election campaign for his Texas congressional seat.
The libertarian-leaning, financially well-endowed Republican candidate who was all but overshadowed by the once-titanic fight between Mitt Romney and John McCain, wrote in a message to supporters on his Web site Friday that he has an obligation to his constituents in Texas.
“I cannot and will not let them down,” he wrote. “And I have another battle I must face here as well. If I were to lose the primary for my congressional seat, all our opponents would react with glee, and pretend it was a rejection of our ideas. I cannot and will not let that happen.”
Ohio Rep. Dennis Kucinich cited his congressional race, too, when he dropped out of the Democratic field, but Paul said he’s not giving up the fight.
With Romney out of the race, Paul said the chances of a brokered convention are nil, “but that does not affect my determination to fight on, in every caucus and primary remaining, and at the convention for our ideas, with just as many delegates as I can get.”
He added that with many contests over, he does not need a big national staff, so he’ll make his “leaner and tighter.”
Paul’s chances for recovery in the presidential race are smaller than Mike Huckabee’s. He has 14 delegates, according to the latest Associated Press tallies, compared with McCain’s 719.
But Paul ruled out a third-party run: “I do not denigrate third parties — just the opposite, and I have long worked to remove the ballot-access restrictions on them. But I am a Republican, and I will remain a Republican.”
He said no matter what, “The neocons, the warmongers, the socialists, the advocates of inflation will be hearing much from you and me.”

By focusing his attention on his congressional seat, he more or less has dropped out. There are still a select few that adamantly support him. But as has been stated, he never had a shot. John McCain is the nominee. If you are a Republican by either voting for someone else, or not voting at all, you are basically allowing Obama or Clinton into the White House.
Despite any disagreements, John McCain is the best shot at Republicans holding the White House for the next 4-8 years.
Its time to wake up America! For the first time in a LONG time we actually have people running for office who are not generous with the public’s money. And what do we do….?
Instead of embracing these candidates we humiliate them in true American fashion. We say
they don’t have a chance to win so why waste a vote. Talk about a self fullfilling prophesy!
This voter logic is so twisted its not even worth my time to talk about it.
We support the likes of McCain the Republican voted most likely to engulf us in War with Iran or Barack and Hillary the Democrats, candidates voted most generous with other peoples money for quote on quote just causes like universal health care.
Don’t you get it? Duh…Democrats and Republicans = More Wars and more Taxes and less
Freedom (You know…. that idea that you actually can control your own life!)
Had enough?
Then walk the walk by supporting truly independent people. They are out there but you have to support them now when its not popular with the Mainstream Media or the entrenched career Demopublicans. Stop trying to support “winners” of this poll or that and vote your concience.
(Vote now while you still have the right)
You know who the truly independent voices are…. Ron Paul, Dennis Kucinich, and even Ralph Nader.
This should have been a … No Brainer
What are you waiting for?
Lets show the Demopublicans and NeoCons where the door is!
Racist Paul never had a chance. That is why the news basically ignored him. Mike Gravel is still running on the Democratic side, and you hear nothing about him. Just because a bunch of Paultards make a fuss does not mean there is a conspiracy. You would think Paul would have the decency to just drop out.
This story put his words completely out of context and is a baised outrageous lie. This media is an alien to actual journalism.

I have come to believe that Ron Paul is one of the few statesmen left to voice the concern of American citizens; all of the other candidates are political hacks owned by the internationalists. President Monroe had the right international policy. Today ,the Internationalists are destroying our Constitutional form of government.
If the present course this country is on is not altered, we are headed in the same direction as the Roman Republic. Transparency in government is the basis of our Constitutional form of government. Most of our legislators get caught up in the greed of the Internationalists and cannot relate to the dreams and aspirations of the majority of American citizens. Our representatives in congress have salaries, health care, and retirement benefits well beyond those of the average citizen so how can we expect them to legislate for the “common good” of this nation?

Are the 719 McCain delegates suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome? It is beyond my comprehension that this wishy washy, short tempered, dumb, (Graduated 894 out of 899 cadets.) human being is actually the guy chosen by ANY PARTY to run our country!
I’m buying stock in Vaseline.
Its 42 delegates but accurate reporting and faux news that’s a joke. We Paulites realize the bark of a paid dog, that’s MSM in general and faux in particular. As a tactical approach: boycotting the hounds of the Central Bank that controls the Corporate fascists has its place. Our conflict goes beyond this election. The Republican Party well its heading towards the opposition benches, in both branches of government. Paulites see the collapse of the Republican Party like an economic depression - an opportunity to BUY BUY BUY. Its a protracted conflict that patriots of Paul face. The demoralization of the American people took many years of ideological subversion; since 1913 with the establishment of the Central Bank and the 16th amendment Federal government has taken control of the currency. The civil war ended the era of free banking with the National Banking act of 1863, which regulated banks to base bank holdings on US Treasury securities. As an emergency measure to finance a disgusting war that killed 600,000 Americans! The Central Bank of 1913 effectively set the stage for centralized economic planning - a socialist/communist platform.
Taking charge of the Republican Platform involves a protracted fight, not limited to a simple election. This conflict has no termination date. The DESTABILIZATION of our economy, foreign relations and defense our leader has outlined in his Presidential bid. When the Party falls, that’s when we expect to prosper quite well. The CRISIS for the Republican Party happens when the Republican sit on the outside looking in, in both houses of Congress and the Executive.
The abolitionist platform of the Paul leadership within the Party seeks to annul the central bank. A democrat passed executive order 11110 we shall encourage the democrats to honor that executive order! We hope to break the Corporate control of the media by destroying the Central Bank. Its a protracted fight and “news” propaganda outfits like faux we invite their opposition and condemnation.
