New York Times Endorses McCain, Clinton
The New York Times has endorsed John McCain and Hillary Clinton for the GOP and Democratic presidential nominations, respectively.
In the endorsements, to run in Friday’s edition, The Times highlighted each candidate’s perceived ability to undo what it called the harm of the Bush administration.
The McCain endorsement underscored the Arizona senator’s appeal across party lines, though the paper said it has disagreements with every Republican candidate.

“Still, there is a choice to be made, and it is an easy one. Senator John McCain of Arizona is the only Republican who promises to end the George Bush style of governing from and on behalf of a small, angry fringe. With a record of working across the aisle to develop sound bipartisan legislation, he would offer a choice to a broader range of Americans than the rest of the Republican field,” the endorsement said.
As to why the New York paper of record did not endorse former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, the editorial was unrelenting.
“Why, as a New York-based paper, are we not backing Rudolph Giuliani? Why not choose the man we endorsed for re-election in 1997 after a first term in which he showed that a dirty, dangerous, supposedly ungovernable city could become clean, safe and orderly? What about the man who stood fast on Sept. 11, when others, including President Bush, went AWOL?” the paper wrote. “That man is not running for president. The real Mr. Giuliani, whom many New Yorkers came to know and mistrust, is a narrow, obsessively secretive, vindictive man who saw no need to limit police power … Mr. Giuliani’s arrogance and bad judgment are breathtaking.”
The Clinton endorsement had kind words for top rival Barack Obama, but called him “undefined,” and underscored Clinton’s experience and qualifications.

“By choosing Mrs. Clinton, we are not denying Mr. Obama’s appeal or his gifts … Mr. Obama and Mrs. Clinton would both help restore America’s global image, to which President Bush has done so much grievous harm,” the paper said in its endorsement. “The potential upside of a great Obama presidency is enticing, but this country faces huge problems, and will no doubt be facing more that we can’t foresee. The next president needs to start immediately on challenges that will require concrete solutions, resolve, and the ability to make government work. Mrs. Clinton is more qualified, right now, to be president.”

The Times forgets that the election is for the president of the USA and not just for New York city. They have such a bigoted and exclusive stance and their haughty editorial is so condescending that it induces nausea.
Wait just a minute, New York Times endorses McCain and Clinton? But where is the republican candidate?
Now we know why NY Times circulation numbers are drastically reduced.
If I’m Rudy or Romney, I’m THRILLED with this news! Rudy said it well during the debate. It’s obvious the national press is in love with McCain.
If our conservative base gets it right, we’ll throw our support behind Romney and put the John McCain nightmare behind us.
Vote Romney!
I’m pretty much a democrat; but for some reason I just can’t see myself voting for nor endorsing Hillary Clinton……………….if (which I have) given the choice between H. Clinton or McCain…………..I’d go with John McCain…….I mean with all the mud throwing and lies and accusations coming from the Clinton campain her (Hillary and her husband old Bill) motto seems to be lets bury Obama and then lets do for the country. Just seems to me that she’s putting the mud throwing first and foremost before us (U.S.) where as in my opion John McCain (yes he will shoot a pop-shot or two @ Hillary but its after he has told us (U.S.) what his vision is in moving the country in a different direction. Yes there are times where the republican canidates are going after one another but my god; not like the Clintons are. Bill Cliniton seems to want the head of Obama and his first borns. Its like he (ol’Bill) just has to at any and all costs have to get back into the white house. Would a Huckabee, McCain, Obama, Romey hell even a John Edwards; but to do another 4 years of another (Bill Clinton) ’cause everyone knows that Bill Clinton is going to be running the White House not (Hillary) she is only going to be wearing the badge. As far as I’m concerned………..it’ll be the 90’s all over again including the lying and cheating Bill Clinton only this time he won’t get caught. The Clintons strike me as mean and vendictive they have the nerve to talk about Pres. Bush…………and they are no better…………. anyone but Hillary Clinton or should I say another 4 years with Pres. ol’Bill Clinton at the helm.
I CANNOT believe that anyone would vote for Monica’s ex boyfriends wife! Does the American public not remember what those people did to us? what they put us through? Perhaps Bill’s wife would like to go back in time and let her explain to my 7 year old why his PRESIDENT could not keep it in his pants!
since when do we trust the new york times? do they think that we are just human puppets?
of course they do or they would not have done this. I’m not fooled, those are the two biggest mistakes ever elected for breathing.
Suprise! Suprise! The most left wing hate America bunch on the planet endorse the two worse enemies of America. Is there any difference between those two maggots? NO! Jack
If ever there was a reason *NOT* to vote for McCain this is it. NY Times is your typical leftist media outlet, their endorsement isn’t exactly something to be proud of if you’re a Republican. And who do you think they’ll endorse if they actually had to decide between these two? Right. They’ll dump McCain just as soon as they’re done with him.
Isn’t it obvious the liberal media is lining up with McCain endorsements just to hedge their bets? If they can’t get a far left liberal like Hillary, McCain will be their next best choice.
Mitt Romney has my endorsement.
Well, now that the times has endosed McCain we know for sure he is not a conservative.(as if we didnt know already)
